NewsWinter 2011/2012 Constanze Bickelmann successfully defended her doctoral thesis - congratulations, Dr. Bickelmann! She is now a postdoc at Marcelo Sanchez' lab at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Likewise, Helena Franke finished her study on humpback whales and received her Diploma in Biology. Again, congratulations! Prof. Jiang Da-yong from Beijing University joined the lab for 10 months from February to November, working on marine reptiles. Another researcher of marine reptiles, Erin Maxwell, joined our group as part of her Humboldt Fellowship, which is shared between the Museum für Naturkunde and the Staatliches Musem für Naturkunde Stuttgart. Two trips to Sudan (one paleontological, one zoological one) resulted in several collaborations with Sudanese universities. As a result, Khalaf Allah Salih joined the lab to perform his Master's in Late Cretaceous crocodiles from Sudan, freshly found in the field in spring 2011.
Winter 2010/2011 Martin Brazeau has accepted a position at the Naturalis museum in Leiden, Netherlands. Congratulations and all the best! Linda Tsuji successfully defended her doctoral thesis and from now on shall be called Dr. Tsuji. She recently went to Seattle to work as a postdoc at the University of Washington.
November 2010 Christy and Johannes, along with colleagues Ammon Corl ( Uppsala Univ. ), Marc Jones (UCL), and Donald Miles ( Ohio Univ. ), travelled across Namibia in search of lacertid lizards. They encountered several other creepy-crawlies along the way….
Winter 2009/2010 Finally an update again! What's new: Henrik Stöhr has accepted a permanent preparator position in Linz, Austria. Congratulations and good luck! Martin Brazeau came over from Uppsala to continue his studies on tetrapods and their friends. And there's two further new additions to the lab: Helena Franke is doing her Diploma on whales, and Gabriela Sobral came over from Brazil to pursue her PhD on archosauromorphs.
April 2008 From May 16-18 2008, the German Paleoherptology Meeting PALHERP will be hosted at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. For more information check out http://www.palaeontologische-gesellschaft.de/palges/palherp/. Linda and Johannes just went to South Africa to investigate some of the famous Paleozoic reptiles from the Karoo. Pictures of the trip will be coming soon!
